We love our lab, Lady and we know many of our guests love their pets too. We have two pet-friendly rentals available - Dream Catcher and Sea View, both located at Waterside Village. We ask that you groom your dog prior to arrival and use good doggy hygiene. We provide dog bowls and a furniture cover to make things simple. Mexico Beach has a dog-friendly beach located on the west end of Mexico Bend - just over the bridge over the canal. You are required to keep your pup on a leash, but it's a gorgeous area and often you will be the only one for miles and miles.
Is there an easy place to walk our dog? YES! Waterside Village has a dog walk around the property and there is a nice sidewalk out in front of the building that will take you miles to the east and about 1 mile to the west.
Is there a dog park in Mexico Beach? You'll love the dog park located at the Veteran's Memorial Park in Gulf County about 3 miles from Waterside Village. It's a great way to make canine or people friends and the overall park is also terrific.
Can I take my dog to the beach? You have two options. Our favorite is the the dog beach at the west end of Mexico Beach (turn at the Welcome Center and drive all the way down along the canal until you see the parking area for the beach. The dog beach is right there and you will occasionally encounter other people and once in a while, another dog. You can also head east and go to the Gulf County line and go to the beach there. There's a large parking area on Hwy 98 that is right at the terminus of HWY 386 at Hwy 98. There are more people and dogs there, but it's lots of fun.
Do you have any special dog accessories? We provide a couch cover and a set of doggie bowls. Depending on the time of year, we may also have dog treats.
Do you charge for dogs at your vacation rental? Yes, we charge an additional $25 per night as a pet fee. This fee goes to our cleaner to ensure that the our condo is spotlessly clean and fresh for the next guest.
Are dogs welcome in the area? As a matter of fact, Port St. Joe is a dog-friendly downtown and you'll find a terrific pet store there (Bow Wow Meow Beach) and there are lots of stores that provide dog treats and make you feel very welcome. IF you go to Apalachicola for a day trip, you have to try the homemade dog biscuits available at Oyster Bones. These treats are amazing as they mix in ground in bits of oyster shells that our dog, Lady, goes crazy for.
Let us know if you need any additional information and we'll be happy to make your vacation bow-wow wonderful!
